Note 2 | Edited by Theodorus Pulmannus, who in the 'Notarum explicatio' (page [2]) enumerates his sources: 5 manuscripts (belonging to T. Pulmannus himself; Plantin; Jacobus Pamelius; Gulielmus Gentius; College of St. Jacques, Liège) and the edition published by Michael Isingrinius, Basel, 1534. Three of these manuscripts are today in the Museum Plantin-Moretus-collection: the Pulmannus-ms. (Denucé, Manuscrits, no. 111; 14th century), the Plantin-ms. (Denucé, no. 193; 14th century), the Liège-ms. (Denucé, no. 71; 14th century). |
Note 3 | In the dedicatory to Pruenen, Pulmannus makes an allusion to a dinner in the house of Pruenen to which he had been taken by Joannes Goropius Becanus and where he also met Livinus Torrentius. |
Note 4 | According to the colophon the edition was in fact finished in 1572. |
Note 5 | Listed in M 296, folio 3r (Claudianus cum annotat. Pulmanni etc. 16⁰, f[euilles] 15, [price:] stuivers 4), and M 164, folio 6r. The number of sheets mentioned makes it probable that in this edition the Notes of Delrio on Claudianus's works were also included (see no. cp011481), together with Avianus, Aesopicarum fabularum liber (see no. cp010337): 11¼ (Claudianus) + 2¼ (Delrio's Notes) + 1 (Avianus) = 14½. |
