Note 1 | Plantin was printing in August and September 1579 an in 16mo breviary in one volume, with the outlook of which he declared himself very pleased (letter to Buyssetius, 28 August 1579 [Corr., VI, no. 837]: 'Excudo nunc iterum Breviarium unico volumine elegantius et commodius ni fallor quam antehac fecerim'; letter to de Cayas, 28 September - 6 October 1579 [Corr., VI, no. 840]: '[Breviaria] eadem 16⁰ unico tomo eleganti quod adhuc est sub praelo'). This must be the edition described here. |
