Note 1Fifty meditations on the Passion of Our Lord. First edition.
Note 2On 28 February 1587 Plantin wrote to Jacques de Witte, secretary to the Council of Brabant, that he had received on 29 January the letter announcing the mailing of the 'acte du Privilege'. Plantin, consequently, asked urgently for these data (Corr., VIII-IX, no. 1215).
Note 3To the Jesuit College at Douai were shipped, at the request of Costerus, on 13 March 1587, 200 copies of Meditationes in Passionem, 16⁰, worth, 'avec les despens', 45 florins Carolus guilders 14 stuivers (Arch. 20, folio 21). They were, however, considered to be a gift to Costerus and had not to be paid (Arch. 20, folio 321; cf. for more details, no. 1040).
Note 4A copy was mailed on 3 April 1587 to Franciscus Maugre, canon at Arras (Corr., VIII-IX, no. 1238).
Note 5Listed in M 296, folio 11v (Meditationes in passionem fran. Costeri, 16⁰, 87, f[euilles] 11½, [price:] stuivers 4½), and M 321.
