| Note 2 | A Compendium curationis, precautionisque morbi populariter passim grassantis: hoc est vera et exquisita ratio noscendae, praecavendae…of Laguna had been published at Strasbourg by Rihelius in 1542 (Palau y Dulcet, no. 130029; cf. also Van Schevensteen, page 116). However, as the dedicatory shows that Laguna was in 1556 in Antwerp, it is very likely that Plantin's publication is not a translation of the 1542-publication, but a new version directly written by the author in Spanish. A reprint was issued in 1566 at Salamanca by Mathias Gast (Palau y Dulcet, no. 130060). |
