Description

A new version of the Jewish Museum London’s exhibition “Blood: Uniting and Dividing” (#2203), dedicated to the meaning of blood in Jewish culture. This Polish edition further developed the threads which emerged in the London showing, enriching them with new ideas and objects. Contemporary artworks were interspersed with the narrative, which included sections on circumcision, mikvah, ritual slaughtering, and others. Nine new catalog essays on Ritual and Belief, Jewish Blood—Christian Blood (including blood libel), “Jews, Race and Racism in Interwar Poland” (Olga Linkiewicz), Medicine and Genetics, and Identity.
