Description |
Selection of the Library’s most important works in Hebrew or a Hebrew language and relating to Judaism and the Jews. Material presented in six sections: Bible, Liturgy, Ritual and Homiletics, Hebrew Language, Didactic Literature, Josephus and Philo of Alexandria, and Anti-Jewish Polemic. While most of the Collection’s Hebrew works were produced by Christian Hebraists for a Christian audience, others were produced by Jews in order to meet the religious needs of Spanish and Portuguese Marranos who were returning to Judaism. Brief introduction. Detailed descriptive entries for each exhibit. 133 items. |
