The 600-year cultural history of the Wittelsbach dynasty (1214–1803), illustrated by exquisite manuscripts, goldsmith work, ruler portraits, historical documents, etc. Monumental catalog in four chapters, each with related essays, including “Die Juden in der mittelalterlichen Pfalzgrafschaft bei Rhein” [The Jews in the medieval Palatinate of the Rhine] (Franz-Josef Ziwes, pp. 102–103, and cat. nos. B6.01–B6.08). Hebrew illuminated manuscripts exhibited included the Tripartite Mahzor (parts I and II), the Darmstadt Haggadah and the Dresden Mahzor. In-depth catalog entries. The exhibition was displayed in two parts in two locations: the medieval period at the Museum Zeughaus, and the modern period at the Barockschloss Mannheim.
