A selection of 18th–20th-century Jewish amulets from Central Europe and North Africa that were displayed alongside Egyptian and Oriental amulets from the Bibel+Orient Museum, Freiburg [#2010]. Most of these additions came from the Jewish Museum’s own collections. Brief introductory texts on Jewish amulets throughout the world, and on each of the exhibition’s five categories: personal protection, house protection, mother and child, the Evil Eye, and kabbalah. Detailed descriptive entries. 43 items.
