Description

Scarcely known photographs of Jewish life in the Russian empire. 40 of these images were shown in an ethnographical exhibition held in Moscow in 1867, which introduced viewers to the diversity of Jewish life in this region. Other exhibits came from the An-sky ethnographic expeditions of 1912–1914. Attention was paid not only to the subjects of these rare photographs, but also to the photographers behind them. 40 items.
