Description |
The legacy of two visionary silversmiths who, by bringing Modernism’s International Style to Mandatory Palestine, and leading the New Bezalel Art School and its students, revolutionized the definition of design for Jewish ritual objects in a new era. Introductory text touches upon Wolpert and Gumbel’s artistic backgrounds in Germany, their participation in the New Bezalel, the new modern style to which they contributed (and its widespread dissemination throughout the Israeli public), and their post-Bezalel careers. Exhibits include a few works by their students. 90 items. |
