Description |
Photographs by Yuri Dojc of once-vibrant communities throughout Slovakia. His photographic journey captured the images of Holocaust survivors, synagogues, cemeteries and, as a chance discovery, an abandoned school in Bardejov, where time has stood still since the day in 1942 when its students were taken to concentration camps. Each object—whether book, tefillin, or individual—is presented as a survivor, at once celebrating and commemorating Jewish life in Slovakia. A documentary film by Katya Krausova follows Dojc through Slovakia. No itemized listing. |
