Catalog for the exhibition “Faszination Handschrift: 2000 Jahre Manuskriptkulturen in Asien, Afrika und Europa” [Fascination of Handwriting: 2000 Years of Manuscript Cultures in Asia, Africa and Europe]. The exhibition celebrated the University of Hamburg’s establishment of the “Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures”, which aims to study the entire cultural-historical context of a manuscript, and examine the reciprocal influences between societies/cultures and their manuscripts. Introductory overview of the history and development of the Library’s oriental manuscript collection, particularly the Codices hebraici (Hans-Walter Stork). 15 sections on various cultures represented in the Collection, including “The Jewish Manuscript Culture” (Hans-Walter Stork, pp. 38–51, 5 exhibits).
