A re-examination of the Berlin 1907 “Exhibition of Jewish Artists” (#19), and the divergent, contradictory messages it conveyed. The current exhibition attempted to reevaluate, from a distance of some 100 years, the contribution of these artists to modern art in general, and answer what the Berlin exhibition and other exhibitions in Europe at the time sought to define as “Jewish identity” in art.
