Description |
The Jewish experience in America, presented through documents, objects and images. A major theme throughout the exhibition (and proposed in Hasia R. Diner’s essay) was the willingness of American Jews to embrace this country as their permanent home, while at the same time maintaining enduring ties to the people and places they left behind. Three essays describe: American Jews and the Rule of Law (Ruth Bader Ginsburg), America as a home for the Jews (Hasia R. Diner) and the exhibition itself (Steven H. Jaffe). Exhibits presented in 11 sections, both chronological and topical, each with brief introduction. Basic listing. 314 items. |
