Expanded version of an exhibition exploring Jewish childhood experience in Germany through various types of books and literature intended for children. The original single-volume catalog [#1528] is here divided into two volumes: vol. 1 with essays, and vol. 2 with an annotated bibliography for the books exhibited. 28 essays, five of them new: Klezmer music and Yiddish nursery rhymes (Wolfgang Martin Stroh), the Hebrew paradigm of the pedagog (Ralf Koerrenz), Anne Frank (Laureen Nussbaum), children’s reactions to antisemitism in Germany before 1933 (Helge-Ulrike Hyams), and Zionist children’s and youth literature (Annegret Völpel). 416 items. |
