A traveling exhibition on book plates made for Jews, most of them by known Jewish artists. Three brief essays on “The Ex Libris of the People of the Book” (Daniel Vogelmann), “The Jews and the Book” (Giuliano M. Tamani), and “The History and Symbolism of Jewish Ex Libris” (Remo Palmirani). Catalog also includes a section on Jewish bookplate masters of the 20th C, with sections dedicated to Emma Dessau Goiten, Hugo Steiner-Prag, Emil Orlik, Endre Vadasz, Gregor Rabinovitch, Ephraim Moses Lilien, and Michel Fingesten. Most of the catalog contains images and detailed descriptions of the exhibits. 145 items. |
