Description |
The largest and most comprehensive Jewish exhibition mounted since the Anglo-Jewish exhibition of 1887. Until this day, there has not been its equal. The exhibition and catalog addressed a myriad of topics on Jews and Judaism throughout the world. Catalog introduction to the exhibition by Andreas Nachama and Gereon Sievernich. Detailed description of the exhibition’s 20 rooms, each of which was dedicated to a specific topic, such as: Jewish history in antiquity (Room 1), Jewish Religion (Rooms 3–5, predominantly ceremonial objects and manuscripts), individual countries, cities and regions (Rooms 6–18: Berlin, Yemen, Morocco, Spain, Ottoman Empire/Thessaloniki, Amsterdam, America and Israel, each represented by a wide variety of exhibits), and The Religious Word (Room 20:1, with plethora of Hebrew illuminated manuscripts).
