Description

Alsatian Jewish ceremonial objects. Introduction to the Jewish Museum of Switzerland, and its relationship to the current exhibition (Katia Guth-Dreyfus). Four catalog essays describe the Jewish collection of the Musée Alsacien (Malou Schneider, in French), Alsatian Jews in the 19th C (Daniel Gerson), the cattle dealer as a symbol of Alsatian Jews (Freddy Raphaël), and a transcription/translation of an 1848 letter by Seligmann Brunschwig describing the pogrom “Judenrumpel” (Astrid Starck).
