A primarily documentary exhibition telling the story of Salomon Sulzer’s life and career. Five essays on: the Levi-Sulzer family in Vorarlberg (Bernhard Purin), Hohenems during Sulzer’s youth, the position of the Jews in Austria 1848–1867, Sulzer as a composer and interpreter of songs, and Sulzer as a phenomenon of his time. Exhibition material illustrates Sulzer’s youth, his time in Vienna, his various roles as singer, composer, and reformer, his position between orthodoxy and reform, etc. Includes images of synagogues and cemetery.
