Description |
An historical-documentary exhibition on the Jews of Jebenhausen and Göppingen, 1777–1945, presented on the 100th-year anniversary of the inauguration of the Göppingen synagogue. Extensive catalog essay on: Jewish Life in Jebenhausen (with individual sections on life and employment opportunities, the rabbinate and school, synagogues, the cemetery, mikvah, Jewish societies, and the tenor and chamber singer Heinrich Sontheim); Jewish holidays and customs; life cycle events; and the Jewish community of Göppingen (with sections on prayer rooms and synagogues, the cemetery, Jewish societies, and Rabbi Aaron Tänzerä). The final sections of the catalog (pp. 42–59) address the Holocaust years, from the rise of the Third Reich until the deporatation and extermination of these Jewish communities.
