Description |
The history of Prussia, presented through artist Daniel Spoerri’s concept of a “musée sentimental”—a collection of small, often-non-descript objects that act as documents of historical or art historical events. The section on “Juden” (pp. 185–192) includes a diverse selection of Jewish items: a medieval tombstone, recalling the desecration of Jewish tombstones through their use as building material; a photograph of a Torah curtain from the Old Synagogue in the Heidereutergasse (Berlin), donated by Wilhelm I and adorned with Prussian coats of arms, and an antisemitic caricature. No itemized listing. |
