Description |
A landmark exhibition that marked the first public display of a private Judaica collection: an exceptional group of ceremonial objects belonging to the French conductor Isaac Strauss (1806–1888). The Strauss Collection was again exhibited nine years later in London, 1887 [#6, #7]. In 1890 it was purchased by Baroness Charlotte Rothschild, who donated it to the Musée de Cluny (see #684). 82 items. |
