A monumental exhibition on the history of Amsterdam, mounted in celebration of the city’s 600th anniversary, and apparently the first documented public display of Jewish ritual objects. Judaica from the Nederlandsche Israëlietische Gemeente represented the Jewish facet of this history, accompanying thousands of other artistic and historical works that illustrated the story of Amsterdam’s past. 57 Jewish items featured on pp. 103–105 (cat. nos. 1675–1732) and p. 120 (cat. no. 1955). 4371 items. |
