Abstract: Amulets appear in various types and forms. They are labeled by different terms presumably reflecting their use as attractive or as repellent forces to supernatural powers, the etymology of the word “amulet” itself probably refers to an apotropaic function. They are not efficacious in and of themselves but gain their power in their socio-cultural frame. ⸙
