ABSTRACTAlwyn V. Freeman begins his course on the responsibility of the States for the unlawful acts committed by their armed forces by a description and analysis of the general principles of responsibility. He then examines the issue of responsibility for military activities. He then focuses on the acts of individuals soldiers in time of war, and on the responsibility for soldiers in foreign territory (friendly or territory countries under military occupation). The author devotes the last chapter to the study of the procedures for settlement of claims in the post-hostility period.

Freeman commence son cours sur la responsabilité des États pour les actes illicites commis par leurs forces armées par une description et une analyse des principes généraux de responsabilité. Il étudie ensuite la question de la responsabilité pour les activités militaires. Il s'intéresse ensuite aux actes des soldats individuels en temps de guerre, à la responsabilité pour les soldats se trouvant en territoire étranger (pays amis ou territoires sous occupation militaire). L'auteur consacre un dernier chapitre à l'étude des procédures de règlement des demandes au cours de la période qui suit les hostilités.
