ABSTRACTA. L. Goodhart writes in the introduction to his 1951 course that there is no doubt that the North Atlantic Treaty of 1949 is, from a practical point of view, the most important international agreement since the creation of the United Nations. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was established and substantial investments have already been spent on the implementation of the treaty. Almost all issues of international law have been provided by this establishment. After a study of the Charter of the United Nations, the author presents the history of the North Atlantic Treaty and then analyzes the provisions of the North Atlantic Treaty.

Il ne fait aucun doute, écrit A. L. Goodhart en introduction de son cours de 1951, que le Traité de l'Atlantique Nord de 1949 soit, d'un point de vue pratique, l'accord international le plus important depuis la création de l'Organisation des Nations Unies. L'Organisation du Traité de l'Atlantique Nord (ou OTAN) a été créée et des sommes importantes ont déjà été dépensées pour la mise en œuvre du traité. Presque toutes les questions de droit international ont été affectées par cette création. Après une étude de la Charte des Nations Unies, l'auteur présente l'histoire du Traité de l'Atlantique Nord et en analyse ensuite les dispositions.
