ABSTRACTRoberto Sandiford, in the introduction of the course, explains that war gives rise to legal relationships between belligerents, on one hand, and between belligerents and States who do not take part in the war on the other hand, relationships which can have land, sea, or air as field. The author studies these relationships by starting with a presentation of the law of maritime war and then on Antiquity until the Declaration of Paris of 1856. The author then focuses on the period from the Declaration of Paris up to the Declaration of London of 1909, the law of maritime warfare during the Great War, and later on the post-war rules, ideas, and theories. The author dedicates the last chapter of the course to the law of air warfare.
Roberto Sandiford explique en introduction de son cours que la guerre fait naître des rapports juridiques entre les belligérants, d'une part, et entre les belligérants et les États qui ne prennent pas part à la guerre d'autre part, rapports qui peuvent avoir pour domaine la terre, la mer ou les airs. L'auteur étudie ces rapports en commençant par une présentation du droit de la guerre maritime depuis l'Antiquité jusqu'à la Déclaration de Paris de 1856. Il s'intéresse ensuite à la période allant à la Déclaration de Paris à la Déclaration de Londres de 1909, au droit de la guerre maritime pendant la Grande Guerre, puis aux règles, idées et théories de l'après-guerre. L'auteur consacre le dernier chapitre de son cours au droit de la guerre aérienne.
