ABSTRACTChristian Lange explains in the introduction to his course that a pacifist doctrine combats war as harmful, contrary to the interests well understood by mankind, and as crime, contrary to the precepts of morality. By following the historical development of this doctrine, the author focuses in particular its influence on international law. To do so, the author reviews in eighteen chapters the main intellectual developments (notably the pacifist ideas of Antiquity and the Middle Ages, the Reformation, the Enlightenment) and historical developments (treaties of Westphalia, progress in international law, creation of the League of Nations).
Christian Lange explique en introduction de son cours que la doctrine pacifique combat la guerre comme étant nuisible, contraire aux intérêts bien compris en l'espèce humaine, et comme étant criminelle, contraire aux préceptes de la morale. En suivant le développement historique de cette doctrine, l'auteur entend étudier tout particulièrement son influence sur le droit international. Pour ce faire, l'auteur passe en revue en dix-huit chapitres les principaux développements intellectuels (notamment les idées pacifistes de l'Antiquité et du Moyen Âge, la Réforme, les Lumières) et historiques (traités de Westphalie, progrès du droit international, création de la Société des Nations).
