ABSTRACTFrancois Luchaire, President of the University of Paris I, highlights that the association with the European Economic Community appears to be a transitional formula employed in two different ways: the association can be a transition to the future, that is to say, toward accession, and for European states; the association can also be a transition from the past for States which were formerly under the administration of Member States of the Community, but whose "special relations" with them are gradually lost their specialization elements over the years. The author successively examines the legal aspects of the associations, and the consequences of these associations.
François Luchaire, président de l'Université de Paris I, relève que l'association à la Communauté économique européenne apparaît bien comme une formule transitoire utilisée de deux façons différentes : en effet l'association peut être une transition vers l'avenir, c'est-à-dire vers l'adhésion, et cela pour les Etats européens ; l'association peut aussi être une transition à partir du passé pour des Etats qui ont été jadis sous l'administration d'Etats membres de la Communauté, mais dont les « relations particulières » avec ces derniers sont amenés à perdre progressivement au cours des années leurs éléments de particularisation. L'auteur étudie successivement les aspects juridiques de l'association, puis les conséquences de ces associations.
