ABSTRACTIn his course, Alexandre-Charles Kiss discusses about the extent to which the concept of the common heritage of mankind is part of international law, and if so, what is its precise scope. He conducts his investigation by examining the different situations in which the concept of the common heritage of mankind has been invoked or in which it can be considered as underlying: Antarctica, radio frequency spectrum, outer space and celestial bodies, cultural heritage, natural heritage, other elements of the biosphere, the deep seabed and subsoil.
