The term “anaspectual verb” is sporadically used as an alternative to “biaspectual verb.” By nullifying the aspect of verbs at the outset, this term often implies a critical view to a generally assumed rigid and clear-cut alignment of the perfective and imperfective aspects. The term is also proposed for Slavic languages in their earlier stages, when aspectual opposition was still in the process of systematization. The term would also be applicable to so-called biaspectual verbs in Baltic languages, which partially display the Slavic type of aspectual system in terms of perfectivizing prefixation, but with a weaker degree of grammaticalization.
