Full text version of The Collected Courses / Recueil des cours
Since January 1st, 2020 the complete content of The Collected Courses / Recueil des cours is available in a so-called full text format. This format increased the searching possibilities as well as the possibility to read a course on mobile devices. All courses were converted to xml and replaced the PDF-only version that was available before. In this full-text version:
- Each course starts with an automated generated table of contents, upper-right in the main window. With this table of contents it is possible to jump to the listed main parts of the course.
- A PDF version of each course remained available. A link to open this PDF in a new tab is added at the end of the text of a course, before the end notes. A PDF-option is included in the aforementioned table of contents to jump directly to the open-link.
- The full-text presents the complete course on one web-page, without further pagination. To enable references to a specific page in the PDF- or printed version of the same course, the start of a new page is indicated with a page number between square brackets, for example [p23], in the running text. In case of a heading at the top of a page in the PDF- or printed version, the corresponding page number is given on a blank line below the heading.
- Open URL functionality is added to references in the bibliography of the author (at the beginning) and course (at the end of the course). Clicking the Open URL icon in front of the reference starts a search for the referenced publication using the preferred Open URL resolver. In general this will be a search in the holdings of the library through which access has been arranged.
- For recent courses with paragraph numbering and an index that is referring to these numbers, the numbers in the index can be selected to jump to the corresponding paragraph.
- The text of courses without a recent print file is checked and corrected.
- Footnotes in the PDF- or printed version are changed into endnotes in the full text version. End notes are sequentially numbered with blue superscript numbers. Placing the mouse cursor on a number shows a popup window with the end note text. Clicking on the number jumps to the end note in the listing at the end of the course. Clicking on the number in the listing jumps back to the course text again.
New courses are added shortly after the printed version of a course becomes available in a volume of The Collected Courses / Recueil des cours.
